Welcome to Portable Music Gear Hub. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About This Site
Portable Music Gear Hub is written for people who love music and refuse to leave it at home when they travel. We test noise cancelling headphones, portable Bluetooth speakers, travel-size ukuleles, compact MIDI keyboards and pocket audio recorders in real airports, rental cars, hotel rooms and campsites, and we tell you what actually earns a spot in a carry-on bag.
Affiliate Disclosure
Portable Music Gear Hub is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Travel and Listening Safety
Loud sound for long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Keep headphone volume at a level where you can still hear someone speaking near you, take breaks on long flights, and remember that noise cancelling lets you listen quieter, not louder. Never wear noise cancelling headphones while driving, cycling, or walking near traffic, and stay aware of announcements and alarms in airports and on boats.
Portable speakers, headphones and recorders run on lithium-ion batteries. Airlines generally require these devices and any spare batteries to travel in your carry-on, not checked luggage. Do not charge a device that is swollen, cracked, wet, or unusually hot, use the cable and charger the maker recommends, and never leave gear charging unattended in a hot car or tent.
Instruments and gear cases can shift in overhead bins and vehicles. Secure cases so they cannot fall on someone or become a projectile in a sudden stop, and check your airline's current carry-on size rules before you fly with an instrument. Water-resistance ratings describe lab tests, not guarantees, so keep electronics away from pools, surf and rain whenever you can.
